East Gate Access

Thought I'd grab a quick trip in the evening and hit a stretch of the BP I haven't fished... so I put in at east gate access near FLW...

Well, first of all, this is a really sketchy access point for something that is so close to a military base.. it's way back in the woods, trashed.. I drove up and there was an old jeep sitting there with nobody in it. Few minutes later a guy gets dropped off by some gal, and he's looking pretty agitated. I waved howdy, but I couldn't really understand what he said back. He started the jeep and just stood there watching me unload the kayak. Anyway, I pulled back out and kinda pretended to be messing with my poles until he finally left. I got the impression he was waiting for me to leave.

Anyway, the fishing wasn't good. I tons of still water, zero bites in the likely spots, and I only was able to pick up a few small fish downstream near the riffles. Almost felt like there weren't any good fish hanging around.. Probably just me though.

Anyway, avoid East Gate Access if possible, it strikes me as a good place to get robbed or buy some meth, if that's your thing.

I agree. The scenery is great, but that access is overun by meth heads and the fishing is poor. I have no desire to float out of East Gate again.
