Trico Action

A buddy and I hit T.V. this past weekend and did pretty well. The morning trico hatch was thick and as usual, the bows were just slurping them off the top. They would only take my trico when it barely breached the surface and to the point where I was unsure if I was still looking at it. I would frequently give my fly a short skate just to locate it before drifting into the zone. It was if the bows were in a trance, as they were not spooked by this or me catching them. They would continue to feed lazily in the same spot. The browns were also taking tricos but behaving much differently as they were more alert and requiring a longer drift. They would also hold in shallower, calmer water and hit a bit more aggressively. Later in the day I caught a real colorful brown trout at Baptist while nymphing. My buddy caught some nice rainbows including a suspected raptor's victim. Check out the video and pics!

Just wondering though, how the heck can you trout guys stand a pair of waders in this heat? I'd be head first in that water after I'd fished it.

Love the POV shots. My fishing bud had the same thing las weekend, lotsa tricos on top and lotsa 'bows landed. I would agree, it's too hot to wear waders.

Remember that the water is around 58 degrees and will really cool your core temp down. I'll usually fish the shaded areas after it heats up.
