zander Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Might be some kind of crabapple or sour cherry. Are the leaves serrated or double serrated? If double serrated ( each tooth has another tooth) then it is likely some kind of sour cherry. I would say more likely to be a crabapple. Be careful tasting fruit that you aren't sure of.
Stoneroller Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 yeah it looks like a variety of crabapple. should flower white or pink in the spring. most are grown for decoration and not their fruit as it typically isn't very tasty. Does not get very big and spreads like wildfire.in the yard with sprouts. More pit that fruit, big seed? Makes good jelly. lee G. Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 From the leaf shape, it looks to be an American Plum, instead of the Hortulan Plum.
