Members Woody55555 Posted August 13, 2012 Members Posted August 13, 2012 First let me say, I am not a walleye fisherman but after reading a number of posts, I would love to catch at least 1. I typically fish from Jake's branch to 86 bridge. Any suggestions on location in my area or methods?
rps Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Woody, I would love to help, but that is nearly 60 river miles down lake from here at my end. Find a bluff end, especially one with pole timber, and fish both the channel side and up onto the shelf in 29 to 35 feet of water (if the channel side is deeper than that you may find suspended fish at that depth.) Drop shot a crawler or jig a white spoon vertically.
Jason Essary Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Rps, I tried the white spoon sunday for 2 hours with no takers from eyes in his exact area. Not that it wont work, but I was wanting the same thing. Woody, Im sure if you keep after them, just as rps says, U will happen on one. I just swung and missed. Bill Babler Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Woody, take a right instead of a left. Work from Jakes toward the Indian's. Both Phil Stone and Rick Lisek are catching Walleye, not in the numbers we are in RPS country, but it is not a suprise to gather one up. Instead of the bluffends in that country, "not saying they are not on the ends, but have been more on the flats around the dam rather than the ends as they are up the river." try the long runout gravel points on the same side as point 2. Take your time and fish those long points out as deep as 35 ft. starting in the 22 to 25 ft. range. If I were really serious, I would go get some shiners and either use a bottom bouncer or a drop shot rig. Should get you bit on K's and a Kitty or two, even if you are eluded by the mysterious walleye. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Jason Essary Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Bill, would love to hit an eye down here. I will give it a try. Is that bite early early, morning or all day? Might not be able to make it out till late afternoon without taking off work for it. But chance to catch a good eye for the grease is close to me getting deathly sick. rps Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Bill's comment, which I am sure is accurate as can be, points out a difficulty of the one end of the lake to another pattern. Here, where I am, 32 feet of water, at this lake level, is somewhere in the channel. That is why I travel so far down lake to fish.
Bill Babler Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 RPS is right as rain, to try and figure out what is going on one end verse the other here is totally impossible. Here at the dam the channel is still 180 plus feet. This end of Table Rock is a completely different fishery. It is extremely had to try and keep it all straight. If I am not on one end or the other for a day or two it makes a difference. My edge is I have lots of friends that are out everyday and keep me keyed in on whats up. Jason, I nor any of my coharts have not fished evening, so don't know about it. Beck had 3 more nice keeper eyes yesterday out of Kimberling City and another couple of 15 pound Kittys. Our bite in the mornings seems to be over at about 10 AM, at the latest. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
vacation Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 I fished today near point 1 in and have on and off for the last month, trolling and jigging spoons for walleye...all I have caught is ky's...but I have a buddy who is catching one here and one there. I am fishing mainly mid-day and will try the evening bite later this month.
ozarksfishin Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Babler is spot on as usual, the walleye we have been catching around the Dam is any of the flat pea gravel points. Start out in 35ft and work your way to 28ft. They seem to like the white spoon real good and you have to get out there early! Best chance for a couple is from daylight till about 7:30 or so. The best bite around here has been on Bull Shoals in the last couple of weeks. Same patterns as on Table Rock, but there are numbers of good wallys on these points. Below is a pic from yesterday, these were the best two, ended up with 7 walleye, 12 bass, 5 white bass, and one huge gar chasing my spoon back to the boat! We fished the mid lake area around Diamond City from 6 till 10, saw 3 boats and none of them were pulling a skier! OAF Contributor Phillip Stone http://ozarksfishin.com
Bill Babler Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Those are some fine Eye's Buddy. The rock has been quiet this week also. Got a feeling with School starting and everyone waiting for the last hurah on the holiday weekend we fisherman types are just about to get her back to ourselves. Great Post, thanks http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
