Members Tbcmusiconline Posted August 28, 2012 Members Posted August 28, 2012 Went fishing at WATTS on Friday, August 24th. Caught a dozen or so nice trout. Fishing was slower than usual. Fished mostly with a white floss jig (Basically a size 12 hook with a 1/124 oz beadhead tied with mint dental floss and white thread, no tail). Around 9:30am that morning, while fishing close to the bank, I set the hook on what I though was a tree limb. A few seconds later it took off peeling line from my fly reel. When it finally finished it's first run it was almost 100 feet downriver. I chased the fish all over the river. It was over 30 minutes before I got my first look at what I had on the line. It was a 20+ lb carp. Needless to say my net was useless as the carp was way to big to even come close to fitting in it. It took another 15 minutes and several attempts before I finally got him to shallow water where I could attempt to get my hands on him. After over 45 minutes I finally got my hands on him and brought him to the bank. Check out the pick. 20+ Carp caught with 5X leader with 6X tippet on a 4 weight rod. I didn't even believe it was possible. Kevin Willis
Wayne SW/MO Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 That's a fish you won't forget. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
JCWolfe Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 Your pole is really small, just kidding with you. Thats a good sized one. I got one last year that was 2' long, didn't weigh him so it would be a guess on my part. Okiemountaineer

Members joshuapaul Posted August 31, 2012 Members Posted August 31, 2012 Awesome! I love stalking Carp around town here in OKC when I can't get out to the river. They're nasty, but a really fun challenge and they run like crazy. Your carp reminds me of the time I foul hooked an 18" walleye below Beaver Dam. I thought I had a monster brown the way that thing fought. It was quite a surprise! to life! Josh www.towindward.tumblr.com OKC, OK
