Anyone even tried to float the elk? A bit of rain lately, but was it enough to allow a canoe on the river? Maybe wishful thinking,,,,,,

Thanks,

I don't know about the Elk, but Shoal Creek doesn't look too much different. I'm only a couple of miles from Shoal Creek and I only got 1.25 inches of rain. The way the bands of rain fell was a lot different than with hurricane Ike. Isaac seemed to be more hit and miss around here, but Ike raised all of the creeks. I'd be interested to know how The Elk is running too.

If fishing was easy it would be called catching.

I say go for it!! we went today and slayed them!! It is running 100 cfs now and yes you might have to get out and drag, but it has come up some and the fishing was hot for my neighbor and I. We had four doubles on during the day and I think I had a big cattie on at one time. It shot off on the bottom and then finally got off about 10 yards downstream. Many different plastics were used. Main color was a watermelon green in a grub. I had a good one on earlier on a fluke, but that was another one I lost. I lost two goods ones on a fluke. We were mainly bouncing them off the bottom and most of the time they wouldn't take it until the last second. Also, (and I wasn't drinking when this happened) we came across a deer on the run towards the creek and then saw why. A yote was chasing it. The deer was only about a year old and not very big. The deer got to the water and didn't hesitate to cross. When the yote got to the water he wasn't so sure, and I thought for sure he would see us, but he didn't. He was so focused on that deer he went ahead and crossed the creek too. I have never seen anyhing like it in person and probably will never see that again. I know the yote didn't catch the deer, but it was one of the coolest things I have ever seen! Here's a pic of the biggest bass caught today.
