I'm going to be in the area visiting family this week and I'd like to give the Gasconade a shot. Looking at going from I-44 to 133 or 133 to 7. If anybody has insight as to whether there's enough water to float either of these stretches right now that would be helpful. We'll be in lightweight canoes, so a little dragging here and there is no problem. Also is there public access at 133? I can see the access at I-44 and hwy 7 clearly, but can't tell if hwy 133 is doable.

If you have any recommendations for this out of towner to make the most out his day, I'd be very grateful for some pm's. I promise I release all my smallies and I hate litterbugs. Thanks.

I live 7 or 8 miles from the put ins you are interested in. I got 1 and 7/8 inches the last few days, with almost no runoff in the creeks,

I would guess you are looking at some dragging.

There is a access at 133, but rather hard to find, it is the first road toward Richland past the bridge, thru fields, it turns back toward the river, last 200ft best have a 4 wheel drive.

Thanks for the info. I see the access point now on the map, just wasn't sure if that was a private or public road.

Do you have a recommendation between those two floats? I would assume the 133 to 7 would be less dragging since there's a small creek that enters at 133. But I think we'd rather work harder if it meant better fishing.

Yikes, I just checked the gauge at I-44 and its only 93cfs and dropping. Looks like it will be about 50-60 by the day I want to float. Not sure this is gonna happen, unless it picks up some flow between I-44 and hwy 133.

I really cant recommend, I just know we didnt get much run off around here, so its low I think.

The lower one should have more water, I would think.

And there is another float from 7 to the the cave road that is about the same distance

And i dont know if that access is public or private, all I know is everyone uses it, lol

Did a stretch of the G. Nade on Thursday..no real rise anywhere...hit the faster shallow water with a popper, walk the dog plug, or a buzzbait. The bottom is probably still to scummy to mess with plastic. Good luck.

I sent you a PM with some specific info, but I can tell ya I'd do the 133 to 7 float out of those two. I just floated Adams Ford to Blacks Ford today (no fishin) and there was only one spot I had to walk with my kayak... if I was in a canoe, I'd say I'd be doing quite a bit of walkin and draggin. In fact, being Labor Day, I saw exactly 0 other boats/floaters/fisherman on the water.

The float from Hwy 7 to the Cave restraunt is only a half day. Maybe 4 mi. River is clear and low. You will be dragging some. 44 to 133 or 133 to 7 are comperable full day floats. Close to 10 mi apiece.

Well, pretty bummed out, but wasn't able to make the trip. Weather was nasty on the only day we had available for the float, so maybe next time.
