Members philbrownell05 Posted September 12, 2012 Members Posted September 12, 2012 I am mainly looking to catfish in lakes 3,4,5,7, and 23 because those are the main catfish lakes. I was wondering if anybody has a "go to" spot to fish where they always have luck. I am looking to go out there either this weekend or during the following week. Last time I went on labor day i only got a few nibbles. They were interested just not very much. So i need to find where they like to hang out. Any tips would be very much appreciated.
stlfisher Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 I use to fish lake 7 about halfway down the darn was my spot. I used 6 inch shiners and always did really good. I would put a split shot about 12 inches up the line. I think the large minnows would give them something different. Always did good with this style at 34 the first point between the boats and the dock as well as the darn on 35. Caught s 10lb channel cat years ago at 34. There are some 20lb flatheads in 35 as well. A couple years ago someone caught a 40lb channel cat out of 35
Haris122 Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 I remember reading that lake 3 is generally a good bet. However I spent 5-6 hours one day this summer with catblood stinkbait stuff, and got nothing. Though I did get probing bites. I bet it didn't help though, that I was fishing it a few hours either side of noon for a good 90% of that chunk of time, before I came back to it later in the day again.
