Lifes2Short Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Put in at Roark Bluff about 7:00 this morning and fished for 10 hours, it was GREAT to be back on the H2o! First stop this morning was in the cove right across the main lake from the ramp. I had always wanted to look at this cove and ended up catching a number of bass clear in the back of the cove on the last channel-swing bank. After that went into Power Line cove, went clear to the back but didn't have any luck there. I did end up catching a few on the way back out of Power Line Cove in 15' of water. Worked my way up Son's about half way to the bridge and caught a bunch of bass on bluff banks and out in the timber, I think I ended up catching 25 or 30 with 7 that would have kept......nothing over 16". Caught most of the bass on white spinnerbaits and fire tiger jigs. You know it's been a good day when your thumb is raw from lipping those bass!
Members sixstring531 Posted September 24, 2012 Members Posted September 24, 2012 We had the same experience on Friday. We caught around 40 bass; plenty of "just barely" keepers - one almost 4lber - several smallmouth, one kentucky and two walleye. We threw buzzbaits in the morning, then white and chartruese spinners (walley on a white spinner - go figure) and finished the day with black/blue jig and pigs and 6" BPS Stick-O. They were anywhere from right on the bank (literally) to around 10-15'. We also fished timber and bluffs, along with rocky coves and main lake points. It was windy but we caught a lot of fun-sized fish. We really didn't catch any small ones.
