Roaring River Still Fishing Well,we Got Some More Browns

Conservation dropped another 500 browns into Roaring River a few days ago, they are all over the place, a lot were stocked in the C&R area and into zone 3, browns still have to be 15" before they can be kept, but most stocked were about 12"-14" none I've caught have been over 14" but they will grow quickly in our sculpin rich river.

Still getting fish on drys, the cooler weather will slow the hoppers up a bit, but ants and beetles have been working well all week.

Supposed to be a bit warmer this week, so hoppers should still be good until we get a hard frost.

Blue wing olives, adams, caddis, griffiths gnats and lt. cahills have been good drys, the past few weeks.

Nymphs we are using are pheasant tail nymphs, gold ribbed hares ears, copper johns, zebra midges, burlaps and brassies are all working well.

Small #14 baby buggers are working well, olive, black, brown and ginger have all been good colors.

Still using small marabou jigs and micro jigs under a small indicator, I'll set the jig at about 18" right now in most areas of the river.

The white thread jigs and the small cream colored grubs work well under an indicator just like the micro jig.

If your going to use a spinning rod, then a 1/32 or a 1/64 marabou jig works very well, olive, black/yellow, brown, white and white/gray have all been good colors the past few weeks.

Small spinners are good the first 30 minutes or so in the morning if you start out at the whistle(7:30 a.m. right now) fishing ends at 6:30 p.m. right now, and all fishing ends on october 31st, and C&R season will start on Nov. 9th this year.
