Members kayaker Posted October 16, 2012 Members Posted October 16, 2012 Ok, I see there are several posts like this already, but I need some slightly different information. My buddy and I are trying to find a different trip to do this winter. We do a lot of fishing and floating together, but have never been on the Eleven Point. Here is what I am looking, so let me know if I cannot find something like this on the Eleven Point. We want to take my pop-up camper and our kayaks. Is there a campground in the winter that has electric hook-ups for the camper, and are they on the river. I cannot find anything searching the internet. It looks like 11pt.canoe is in Alton and not on the River, correct me if I am wrong, I know Brian is a great guy from what I have heard. Their website only mentions cottages and tent camping. And would they be able to shuttle us so we could float back to camp or to my truck. And are they in good trout water. Any info would be appreciated. Our normal winter trip has been to Arkansas flyfishing the White or the North Fork and that is getting old after more than 10 years.
Mark Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 There is not electric hook ups anywhere on the river - which is a shame. Several cabins in town, and the Alton Motel is cheap, but not much. For other info, check out preivious post from "First timer seeking info".
Justin Spencer Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Save the trouble of hauling around the pop-up and pay Brian to stay in one of his cottages, very cheap and nice. And shuttling is what he does. Gavin Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Mark is correct....there are no electric hookups....Brian's cottages very nice. Probably the best lodging in Alton...A couple restaurants nearby as well. Justin could hook you up with electric site at his place if you wanted to float the N. Fork of the White in Missouri.... or camp at Montauk State Park and float the Current (no showers in the winter though).
Brian Sloss Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 There are no hook ups on the river, but Greer is a nice campground. We move cars for people all the time, though you should let us or any of the outfitters know when you are coming this time of year. Our houses are a good option if you are interested. This river runs through national forest and is as a result, pretty well undeveloped. Some people don't like this and for others that is the best reason to come. I fall in the latter category. You may want to consider taking gear with you and float/fish/camp for a couple of days. www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497
snap Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 agree about the latter category!!! Was thinking that there is a campground with hookups a mile or two west of the 160 bridge......and one could be shuttled from there!!!
Brian Sloss Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 I heard they are letting campers stay there again, but there is no phone number that I know of and no sign saying for sure. There are hookups about 2.5 miles from Greer access now at a place called Cornerstone, though I don't have the number off the top of my head. Cornerstone is a family friendly campground that also does the occasional weekend rodeo or blue grass concert. www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497
