Was out this late morning and again I was catching a bunch of crappies around the 16 inch mark. It was kinda windy but the bite was still on. Saw some guys haul in some nice bass as well.

From anywhere would be awesome fishing.

Probably from the park lake, actually. But there are plenty of Crappie in both the James and the Finley.

I routinely catch crappie in all but a few rivers around here. I just haven't caught any that big. Let alone a bunch of them. Congrats!

Methinks I need to take the canoe out on the water at the park and throw some crappie lures. I drove around it today and noticed that most of the lilly pads were gone. It might also be a good time to fly rod some poppers out there.

I agree with the pirate.

Biggest crappie I have caught on a river came from the Finley just below Linden. It was a little over 13" and took a gurgler off the top.

just off the shore, i was using a trout magnet, its a small jig head with a plastic body to it, the color was orange and red. they seemed to be hitting it as soon as it hit the water. went out again this late morning and caught only 7 of them.
