My dad and I fished a couple of big pools today.

The water is optimal, super clear, and 62 degrees.

Gauge height: 3.24

CFS: 262

We tried the shallow stuff at first, very little action.

So we switched to fishing the deepest areas with current.

Outside river bends with big boulders and chunk rock.

The fish were 6-10ftwhich surprised me.

Once I figured out the depth, then I picked up a football head and hammered the bass.

At one point I had 8 fish in 12 casts. It was getting late and they were munching hard.

It seems they wanted leafy debris floating right up again those banks.

The wind and current had a "leaf line" pushing down the bank.

I treated the leaves like moss and pitched to the openings in the leaf mats.

The jig had to swim all the way to the bottom and those fish would hit and run the bait.

Most of the time they were swimming to the boat with the jig stuck in the back of the throat.

all total

18- jig

3- brush hog

4- finesse worm

Nice, wish I could have done better yesterday, but hey, I caught some and it was fun. I found mine in deeper water as well. Current seemed to be too strong for them in the usual places.

Andy knows exactly what jig I was using.

Its the same jig that I gave you back in 2009.
