ollie Posted November 26, 2012 Author Posted November 26, 2012 Well, so glad you asked, the fishing sucked!! We have a tie this year between Buzz and I. One fish each was all we could do. And those didn't even come until the last minute! I ended up catching a nice largemouth and another one in one pool, then we caught the trout. It was one tough day to say the least. Met burninworm however and that was cool he made the trip down. Hope he caught one after I left. I really thought it would fish better, but the low,gin clear water added with a high bright sun made it tough. There's always next year and it was fun just to get out in the sunshine yesterday. Buzz Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 It was a nice day. The fishing could have been better, but it is what it is. It was good seeing Burninworm again. It's been a while. I'm glad you made it down from K.C. Up until the last 10 minutes and several flies and countless casts I finally hooked up with the first rainbow of the morning. Ollie, not to be outdone, found a way to hook up and tie the competition with only 45 secs. to go. Nicely done sir. On our way out we found a spot that was holding several fish that we couldn't pass up. Ollie made a few casts and decided he needed to head out. Burninworm and I moved around to get a better casting position. After several misses and a couple LDR's I decided to change flies. I put on a pheasant tail (frenchie), one of my favorite flies, and hooked up on the second drift, a nice 13 or 14 inch brown. I ended up catching one more brown and another rainbow before I decided to call it quits. The last hour saved the day. I had a good time. That's what it's really all about. I'm looking forward to next year. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.

Or did he really catch it? hmmmmm "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
Members burninworm Posted November 28, 2012 Members Posted November 28, 2012 Yeah, he caught 'em. Here's some proof. It was great meeting you Ollie. I'll be back down sometime in December if this weather holds. Maybe do a little fishing at Hickory too. I'd really like to float shoal with you guys sometime, maybe in the spring. I've waded it some a couple of times. I don't ever have anyone willing to make the drive down, so I don't ever bring my canoe. Thanks for showing me the creek. -burninworm.
Buzz Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Thanks for the proof Burninworm. LOL If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
