Went yesterday for a few hours and caught one suspending in a tree in about 20ft of water. I wanted to know some suggestions on what to use around trees when they are suspended when the wind is blowing like crazy. I would think spoons will get hung up and light tackle won't sink because of the wind. Trying to learn to fish away from the bank so pardon me if this is a silly question. Thanks for any input.

If I can't get them to come up after after a spinnerbait or an A-rig sometimes I'll try pumping a Little George through the tree top. A Little George can be dynamite if the wind is howling. I cut the bottom hook off of the treble to keep it from hanging in the limbs. This allows the bait to slide right over.

i personally use white most of the time with a white 3 to 4 in grub in 1/4, 3/8, wheight just depends on conditions also whether i just slowly real it or pump it i don't do it alot but sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures a larger grub will slow the fall and when the water is colder that will help too. just experiment with it find what you like and what works for you

I use a 4" Salt and Pepper grub on a 3/8 oz. darter jig head. You get hung up a lot, but the catch makes it rewarding. You can also experiment with various swim jigs and swimbaits. Good luck.

Thanks for the tips guys. I will have to give them a try. Hopefully next time i go they will be a little closer to the bank. Got my wiggle warts just waiting to be used.
