I couldn't resist getting out on the river Saturday with such beautiful weather. It was pretty windy at times with the canoe being blown upstream occasionally, but all in all a nice day, especially for November. As expected the Smallmouth fishing was down. Well, the fishing was great, the catching was slow! I did manage to coax a half dozen fish to hand with no real size to speak of but any fish to the boat is good for this late in the season. We only did 5 miles and I pretty much stuck to a jerkbait which accounted for all of my fish that day. We floated the 5 miles above Birds Nest which is probably a little high up on the river for this time of year, but couldn't find anyone else to shuttle us with the time of year and deer season open. I'm not sure how good opening day was for deer, I only heard one shot during the entire float. I have included a few river shots from the day. I think floating after the leaves are off the trees has a unique beauty to it and you get to see some things that are hidden during the warm months.

Its very tough to catch a nice fish with conditions like these, keeps giggers away form the bass though....Nice report!!

Nice shots the river looks a little better there than it does here. Seems they have a little more water. Maybe the rain I drove in for 4 hours today will help the river & lake levels.

Thanks for the report
