Anyone Care To Share A Good Bowhunting Spot On Corp Land?

Can you guys save me a little time from tramping all over the hundreds of miles of shore line and share a few spots that I can focus on in pursuit of the monster buck? Are there any places that don't require a boat to access? I won't ask for your favorite fishing spot but I'm not too proud to ask for a hint or two when it comes to big deer. Thanks!!

There are many walk in areas on the south end of the big sac arm. Some of them get TONS of pressure, some of them not so much. Google earth is your friend, and can help you isolate an area you wish to explore. Right now, a big buck could be on any ridge, draw, edge or thicket you can find, they're moving alot. I know where a couple shooters are hanging out, but you'd have to find out where I launch and follow my boat out to get than info out of me.

Everything south of the Y hwy bridge is "anydeer" tag only, no bonus tags may be used. The north end of the lake I have little experience with (north of the 215 bridge) There are still some walk in options up there, but you may have to be creative in parking to avoid really long hikes.

Bout all you can do is get out there and learn, and keep trying. On the bright side, if you get away from most of the pressure, anywhere you decide to set up will be a surprise to the deer, so you'll have lots of "first sit" advantage over and over.

Good luck.

Thanks!! I've used a number of resources to trim my focus and have spent a lot of time stalking the woods. A few years ago I saw a huge buck in the back of a truck at a Greenfield C-store and asked the guy if he shot the deer locally, he just grunted "yep". I was hoping to run into one of that buck's offspring near the lake.

Get as close as you can to the State Park. The Big Boys know where it is safe. You can usually tell when the park starts because you'll start seeing deer !

There's some guy that owns land adjacent to the park who uses the same taxidermist I do. All I can say is he spends a lot more money at the taxidermist than I do.

Was at my taxidermist last night, he had a big deer in the shop that was from Stockton not too far from the park. Not the same guy I mentioned prior though.

Most of the corp land gets hit pretty hard for deer and I don't think bucks get too much of a chance to get some age on them. But there are ton of deer around the lake. If I wanted to fill the freezer with a doe, that would be one of the easiest places to do it that I've seen. My brother-in-law got a handsome 8-pointer up there this year on his very first deer hunt. 2 or 3 year old buck.

thanks for the input. Will share pics if I'm successful. I've hunted several places at lake and seen many deer...........and many coyotes following not far behind. Haven't seen the caliber of bucks that I know exist there yet.

I fish one of the tribs in this area and was thinking about a little hunting myself. Can you share a little more on this?? I don't mind the scouting part. In fact I prefer it. Its an hour + drive each way and I would hate to have it all scouted out only to find I am in the company of a few hundred others. LOL! Plus I don't like walking in on anothers spot. Even though it is public, its just not my style. PM if you want.

Walk in, or boat in Chief? Prefer more northern or southern, and or sac arm or sons creek arm?
