So-Brian, as a guy that is looking to tie up some soft hackles and learn to fish them without a high level of frustration of missed fish( I know that will always be a factor, especially for me), I would ask "What is the right hook for the bite" ??

"Pretty soon we may not have any rights left because it might infringe on someone's rights"

rut - I had the right hook once.. actually I tied up 25 of them.. but whenn I ran out... I couldn't find them anymore.

It was a Partridge - well this one : http://greatfeathers.com/hooks/partridge/vince-marinaro-midge-fly-hooks-by-partridge.aspx

I know this say they have them.. but if you call em to order.. it aint happening!

not in the size I had them in

Rut- It was the first fly I learned to tie and Charlie Reading sold me on the Daiichi 1530. Feather Craft also calls it THE soft hackle hook and I would agree. I started my Dad on soft hackle fishing last fall on this hook and he landed a dozen or so on the Niangua, missing very few. (And he's 89 yrs old!) I think the bumps and misses go along with this type of wet fly fishing. It took me a while to learn to set without breaking off too often.

I like this hook.. Phil has them at the shop too. Good price as well.

(I'm gonna smash that barb down though)

Same principal as the Marinaro hook.. short shank, super strong.
