Members jgentile Posted November 26, 2012 Members Posted November 26, 2012 It's gettin cold and I wanted to hear from anyone who has been out lately and had success. Is it midge time or is nymphing getting it done? deep pools or moving water? My wife wants me out of the house so she can get some holiday stuff done and has basically told me to go fishing! All the best, Joe
Gavin Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Spent the weekend family camping down at Montauk. Not much time to fish...but some friends and me made it out to fish above Tan Vat for a couple hours at dusk on Saturday. Low, clear, and tons of moss on the bottom & floating in the water. Tough fishing. Morning bite might have been better. Nothing seemed to be hatching mid-day. Good Luck.
Members mdrstl Posted November 30, 2012 Members Posted November 30, 2012 A friend and a few of our boys spent a few days post-Tday in the Park. The water is very low and clear, but we did have some luck on BH wolly buggers (chrystal light green), SJ worms dropped off the buggers and crackle backs when the fish were coming up. The surface activity happend late in the day and after the post sunrise warmup. I also had some luck on a light hatch of tiny white flies using a small PMD. Note that I've never mastered a nymph below an indictor so my lack of report on that approach is due to ignorance not bad results. we didn't make it out of the Park so don't know how this translates to the Blue Ribbon area. Some of the hatches extended past the 4pm siren so you may be better off down stream. Regardless of the reports, when a wife tells you to go fishing, you should listen.
