I have been on this forum for quite a while and have noticed a huge change in it's content. This site has gone from some place to get a fishing report so I know what I can expect when I come down to a comedy releaf site. I vist John Wilson's site more now than I evere did. I'm able to get what I want and not have to read all the B.S. that goes with it.

I would like to thank everyone that put fishing reports on because I have found that they are very accurate. There are several that fish during the day and there are a few that fish at night and the information that you guys put out is good.

I would like to think that Phil would see the change and make some changes to get it back to what the forum was made to do, give acurate fishing reports. It seems that there are a few people out there that get there kicks out of the drama and I know that in the past I have posted right beside the next guy. But come on enough is enough. With the contest with pick the date of the 4million hit. I would have to say that Phil likes the DRAMA because it pulls more people in and belive me I understand that is what it's all about. I will have to say that I hear more and more people say that they don't like it.

I hope that this did not make anybody mad, I'm not personally trying to tear Phil down but I do wish that it would get back to Fishing reports and a place to get advice be it fly fishing or spin fishing.

I want to hear feedback on this...

BUT I don't want anybody defending me personally. I don't take offense to this topic at all. If there alot of people out there unhappy with the content of the forum, I want to know.

But in saying that, I'm not sure what I can do or change the forum.

I have had people say they like the detailed fishing reports I used to give. But I have to be honest- I have fished less this year than ever. The poor fishing here has dampened my egerness to report because most of the time it would be slow.

As for reporting on bait fishing below fall creek, it's hard to tell people 'what color power bait to use' because it changes from hour to hour... so "pick a color". White has been the best color for 2-3 years and that doesn't change much.

So there you have it. The forum HAS taken the day to day, week to week burden of me reporting fishing conditions off my shoulders and others are doing it for me. But I've always thought a dozen reports a week is better than one... and one is what it used to be- only mine. I wasn't that good was I?

Enough babbling.

What do you think?

One thing- I was looking over the forum and thought of something. The forum itself it pretty big. The index page is overwhelming, I know, but I'm not sure what to do about it.

As a member, you can log in and hit the 'View New Posts" bar at the top of any page. This will bring up any new posts since your last visit. Then you only after to wade thru those post. Just pick out the fishing reports.

Unrelated to this suggestion, a side note - out of 27 topics on the first page of Taneycomo, 11 are fishing reports.

I don't have a problem at all with the site. I just click the "View New Post" button, and pick out what post I want to read. As far as "drama", any site open to the public will bring with a host of people with different viewpoints and interest. I think Phil has done a great job with this site, and I personally appreciate his work. Being in the technology field since mud, maintaining a site as nice as this one is a full time job, and a good one at that. Don't change a thing

I also do a call-in report on a local report number. I update it about once every 7-10 days. It's hard to change the report even after a week most of the time because conditions and fishing stay the same. I only have a minute to record the report so I cram as much info as I can. Sorry I don't have the number handy- it's at the top of the newspaper- The Independent.

Honestly, if someone thinks they can do a better job, anyone can set up a forum and administer it the way they want...

I am a member of both this forum and John's, as are several members I know of. I don't see a difference in the "comedy relief" in the two. The big difference is that John's forum is centered around fly fishing the White River system and Phil's is much broader... all types of fishing in all the lakes, rivers, and streams of the Ozarks.

One thing you must understand about an internet or other forum. It is an OPEN DISCUSSION by the members. Yes, the administrators and moderators can weed out anything they wish and if you like that kind of censorship, there is always FAOL. If you want just a fishing report, there are a lot of them all over the internet.

I myself value the information, humor, comradery, ribbing, and overall openess of both Phil's and John's forums. I think it's what makes it work. But if the members want only the fishing reports, then so be it... But I think there will be only a couple of members stay... the majority would move on somewhere else.

My vote, Phil... You're doing a great job and the forum is just fine the way it is... It's sort of like watching TV... I scan the threads and posts. If there is something I don't want to read, I just "change the channel".... What a wonderful thing this mouse button is....

That's just my opinion, for what it's worth... and that ain't much...

You won't find as much information on any other site as you will here. The format here is diverse and has something for all readers and posters. Yes sometimes you have to look for it. But if you want an answer quickly all you have to do is post the question even if its to ask for a fishing report, someone here will give you an unbiased one. I too just click the view new posts and read what I want. If I want to follow that thread I just subscribe to it. Very simple even I can do it.

As for flyfishingarkansas.com I have been a member there since inception and realistically there is as much comedy relief there as here if not moreso and comedy ain't no bad thing.

Yes I do agree that Phil has done a great job and I too understand that with a public forum anything can and will be brought up I just wish that it was just a little more closely watched.

There has been more drama here on this site in the last 3 months than ever before. It seems that there are some people out there that think that they have to prove how great you are in the industry of fishing. You have nothing to prove except to yourself, and if they think that by typing about fishing here on the forum that makes them well known then I do not know what to think.

There is only one way to get name recognition and that is by going out and doing what you love to do, and not just typing about and talikg down to everyone else. I would like to think on an open public forum that people would be kinder and more open about ideas and not get on each other because you gave away the location and or the lure of choice. That is what I'm talking about. the last time I checked most of the areas that we fish are public waters and they are not making any more land or place to fish in a certain aspect. I would like to think that I could get on this forum and tell the GPS coridnates and lure of choice and not get rediculed for doing so. But I guarentee you if I did that there would be so many people P.O. that they would hunt me down.

I visit a number of these boards and this one has more about fishing. Many of the others have been dominated by deer and duck hunters and some of the responses to posts is harsh. That is fun sometimes but I also like to read about what is going on at Taney. I get to visit there about ten days a year so what I read fills in the gaps. Keep up the good work Phil. The only constructive comment on this forum is that it is very broad and a lot of the areas don't get much activity.
