Guest Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 I plan on attending all 3 days in Tulsa. Not sure if I will make the trip to Grand Lake. This will be my first ever trip to the classic. I usually watch streaming live video from the war room, then ESPN at night. What are some of the "can't miss" opportunities at the classic? Outdoor expo, launch, weighin, etc??? We should start a "roll call" of OAF members that plan to attend.
Members hookset Posted January 11, 2013 Members Posted January 11, 2013 I was thinking about taking a day or two and going down as well. I have never been to a Classic but I think shadowing an angler or two by following them and watching them fish would be a blast.
Kelroy Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 My favorite part was always the trade show- bumping into folks like Hank Parker, Bill Dance, Skeet Reese and so on. Plus, tons of new stuff to buy.
Quillback Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 I plan on going to the expo for a day, just not sure what day yet. I'm hoping there's lots of gear and lures to check out. Probably a good idea for me to leave the wallet at home.
Football Head Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I'm making the trip over to Tulsa. This will be my first classic. Can't wait to check out the trade show. I'm sure it would be a good idea for me too leave my wallet at home as well Quillback
kjackson Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I'll be there as well; the expo is must as I've heard that there will be a lot of new products introduced this year. I'm not sure exactly what the program is for the group I'm going with, but it will include some fishing as well. I've been to one Classic--the one in Chicago--which wasn't much; although, I did spend a day in the boat with Alton Jones as an observer. That was good.
rps Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Google "Elote Tulsa" and plan around this for eating in Tulsa.
Guest Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 I wonder what time a guy would have to get to the weigh in site to get a good seat??? I wonder if you have to stand in line for hours and hours to get one?? Seating is first come first serve, there will be a long wait for good seats.
Al Agnew Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 I'm actually going to be exhibiting at the expo. Will have a booth set up next to the apparel company that puts my artwork on Tshirts and stuff. I'll be selling a bunch of shirts and other clothing because the company won't be selling it, and will have a few prints and an original or two there as well. And I'll probably be painting a bass painting at the show. My wife and sister in law talked me into doing it...we haven't done an actual show like that for a number of years...too much work and trouble. But if I had to do a show, I can't think of many that would be more interesting than the Classic. Hopefully I'll be able to spend a lot of time wandering around myself!
Guest Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Thats awesome, could you post the time and date of your painting? We might stop by there. I'm a novice at art painting/collecting, but I know you do excellent work! Will you have anything on display to buy at the show? It would make a good fathers day gift this year,
