I know it gets more shallow as you head up river, but before it splits, how deep is in between the dam and the split? Anyone know? RS?

I don't know I've used my belly float tube in the park and its too deep to wade there but I've seen guys put in there kayaks & canoes and head upstream fishing and not come back while I was there..........But I have fished the park during the week and had pretty good luck everytime I've been there .......a lot more cover than I would have expected. More largemouth than smallies but they are fun too..........

Well, I've floated my canoe up and had fun, but I was wondering because I've been thinking of trying out some fly rodding on it. Didn't know if I should consider a sinking line or not?

There's spots around 10 - 12 feet but I think a floating line would be fine. I'd try a streamer that acts like a suspending jerkbait ( I tie bathchain eyeball Clousers) worked very slow over some timber.

I got my answer yesterday....not very deep. I took the canoe out for about an hour and paddled up from the park. It was real darn windy. That made for some work getting back down. I was battling the gusts. Where I was paddling, I had no problem seeing bottom the whole time, the root wads, and tree stumps. Unfortunately, what I didn't see was fish. Not one.

I thought about heading down to the Hooten Town access, but by that point I really wasn't interested. I didn't want to make the drive just to find a lower river with little to no fish.

Maybe this afternoon, I'll hit Taneycomo.
