moodyfour Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Would like to go one time... But, would have to drive a bit to get to a good spot...
mhowerton Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 MH where in the Black do you hunt? I am familiar with that area a bit and have a good friend I hunt with often down there... If I wasn't leaving for a business trip on Sunday, I would be closing out the season right in the middle if it... I like to read about the dry field hunts, due to the fact I have never been on a hunt like that... It looks fun when it is good. But have to say hunting the timber is where my heart wants to be... Absolutely love it!!! Just wish I was closer to take advantage of it more often. I have a cabin near Knobel and hunt the upper island mainly then all over when the water gets up. Mallards dropping into the timber is a special sight to see. Look me up next season.
Bird Watcher Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 LOL, You and I have had that experiance but for those who havent you have to admit its something to see. My layout was brushed out in goose poop a few times FROM ABOVE lmao. It is something to see that's for sure. I'm still not ready to go again and I haven't been in 6-7 years. Maybe if I hired a guide service. It would be worth the money just to show up, walk out, sit down and shoot.
Feathers and Fins Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 lol, ya i know what you mean, I get it all out of me on the farm. when i can pull the truck on the levee and try and shoot them so they fall in the bed. I put my limit at 10 snows a day for the rest of my life with rare exceptions being getting them off farmers fields so i can maintain access. But still nothing gets me pumped like several thousand screaming snows coming head on at you. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
JohnP Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Awsome pic FnF, only been in the eye of the storm twice and its defintely one of the most amazing and deafening hunts I've ever been on.
Feathers and Fins Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 John, I love it, What I love most is getting new commers in on it and especially kids. I swear i wear a smile for a week after, last year i got a group of 5 kids in on it and their parents, Grandpa owned the land and he and I hunted it for years, I didnt fire a shot all day but was giggling like a school girl watching them blast away. I still get calls from them wanting to know when we are going again, and best part is i tell them when your grandpa says lets go we go. He says he loves hearing the kids excitment asking " grampa are they there yet". https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
