rcguy Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 I live down in Leawood/Overland Park area and kk fly shop is off 87th, I try to support little shops like that rather than Cabelas or Bass Pro, especially since their pricing seems to match everyone elses which is nice. I like KK but sometimes Kevin rubs me the wrong way. I use to go to The Fishin' Hole. Not sure if it's still there or not.
rcguy Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 No Luck, I'm sure you just sign the paycheck over to Feathercraft Are you working on the Dam this winter? I'm really thinking about a guide trip on the North Fork of the White this year with Brian Wise. Wanna go? Two guys cost the same as one.

After that I may have a short stretch at home before heading out to NC again. I wish I could plan better and be able to do stuff like that. My job is a little crazy so here lately I can't plan too much. I did make a point of it to my boss that I want off the last couple of weeks in Oct. and the first couple weeks in Nov. I have missed the last 2 bow seasons and it's driving me bonkers. Trout fishing is pretty good but I still like my deer hunting. Maybe if I ever get an extended break we can do that. At least work at home for a few months would be cool.
brittsnbirds Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 NoLuck your right FC is a great fly shop, if you do not live in Missouri. By the time you pay shipping and TAX it's cheaper to get stuff from Idaho or Montana. Sometimes they ship for free. I wish they would make a deal on the shipping and I would be more of a loyal customer. As far as K&K Jerry, I agree. The prices are comparable though. Kevin hooked me on my Sage several years ago and even took me out to the yard for some tuning up on my casting. He didn't have to do that was very nice and focused. Now if you want to be rubbed the wrong way just go down to BSSP and visit Charlie!! I have a buddy that goes with me from time to time and he refuses to go in there!! He's originally from Chicago, maybe it's a personality conflict??? Jerry where is the other shop you mentioned. I thought there was one up in old OP somewhere but haven't found it?

Members Stu675 Posted March 5, 2013 Author Members Posted March 5, 2013 Yeah I am not sure who the guy is in there, he is pretty cool once you get talking to him, I think he was a bit hesitant with me since I am younger and most of the older champs usually think I am some punk trying to look cool or something, not sure, but now that I have spent some time around there and of course spent more money then I should buying tying stuff from them and just bought a new Hardy DD reel from them, they seem to be cool with me. Plan on hitting the North Fork in hopefully a month or so, got a few business meetings I have to go to down south and then going to east coast to see family, hopefully the weather will start warming up a bit so I can ride down there.

I am really wanting to hire Brian Wise for a guide trip on the North Fork of the White if that is the same place you are talking about. River of Life farms? I've never been there.
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 I've never been to the ROLF either, but it looks good from the river. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

River of Life farms? I've never been there. I have talked to both guys from ROLF and Sunburst. I will probably buy some flies from Sunburst shop and fish that area, but I was planning on just making my way up the river and see what I could do. I would probably make it into a weekend trip and take my 1person tent and camp out. We will see though.
