oneshot Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Ok I've caught a few Catfish by Lead Mine and seen Guys fishing for them at Barclay. Is there enough Catfish in them areas to truly Target them? Ok to catch Suckers regular am I better off to just put bit of worm on bottom on a small J Hook? oneshot
Wayne SW/MO Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Why don't you try above the spring? I would think there would be some up there, Windyville? I don't know about suckers though, that stretch gets hit pretty hard by giggers. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
GloryDaze Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Last summer when we put in at Barclay, I was talking to one of the young guys who was throwing canoes for one of the outfitters. He told me they target catfish all the way down to Leadmine and have alot of success. He told me they use trot lines at night and had luck with them as well. Not sure if it would be worth targeting or not as I just don't know enough about that section. Follow me on Twitter @DazeGlory

What I was asking on Suckers is do I just want to put a bit of worm right on the bottom? This seems like it will be the best at keeping other fish off my bait and still catch the Suckers. Actually I have fished above the spring and caught the heck out of Goggle Eye which isn't at all bad. oneshot
Wayne SW/MO Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 When I lived there it seemed that most of the catfish came from above Moon Valley, but that might have been because it was hard to fish below that. When there was good hole at Moon Valley there were cats in it. I would think a worm is likely to catch anything that swims in the river. Smallies and trout feed on the bottom also. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
