Members lupe21 Posted February 6, 2013 Members Posted February 6, 2013 hey i was wondering if this river is close to jonesboro and what would be a good way to get there also can you wade in this river thanks daniel
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted February 6, 2013 Root Admin Posted February 6, 2013 It's not real close to Jonesboro - probably a couple of hour drive. There are places to wade but mostly it's floated, then getting out and wading the bars and flats. It's a great river. Welcome to the forum. If you have any other questions, please ask. Members lupe21 Posted February 7, 2013 Author Members Posted February 7, 2013 thanks lilley would it be possible to put a small flat bottom with a small outboard and maybe fish it like that
LittleRedFisherman Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Lupe21, welcome to the forum! It's gonna depend where you go on the point as far as running an outboard, and the river has a 25hp limit so keep that in mind. The river is deeper in Arkansas, so you can probably put in on the access near Pochahontas and get a ways up and down the river, but you will be limited even then, you might get a mile either way, not really sure. This river really needs a jet even in Arkansas if you wanna explore further. The Current river near Reyno can be navigagted with a large boat for a nice stretch, it has some good fishing for just about anything, some smallmouth, but they are mixed in with spots and largemouth. Find a good eddy with some brush and there will be crappie there as well, there is also good catfishing there. From Jonesboro it might be a couple hours. Welcome aboard, hope this helps some! There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
Members lupe21 Posted February 7, 2013 Author Members Posted February 7, 2013 thanks dude its amazing how many wonderful rivers this state has
Brian Sloss Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 You are about 1.5 hours from the Eleven Point trophy area. From Mammoth Spring Alton is 20 minutes and then it is another 8 miles to Greer and the Blue ribbon area. Feel free to call me at 417-778-6497 for directions and suggestions. The water is low enough this year to do plenty of wading. www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497
