Members will.isaac Posted February 26, 2013 Members Posted February 26, 2013 last sunday myself and four others made the trip up 65 to try the dam. I tried jigs for walleye early. they were not generating any water and there was some sheet ice. I tried lots of different colors with no luck. then we tried for crappie with not luck. went into town bought some shiners and slip bobbers and nothing. everyone we talked to said they had been catching some eyes last week before the winter weather moved in. we usally do well up there but i didnt even get a bite. the water was low 40s. if we get a few warm days and the gen some water it will pick up im sure. but until then save your gas money. still had fun.
Wayne SW/MO Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 I don't fish there a lot, but I have decided that it isn't worth getting out of the truck if they aren't running water in the spring. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

I 2nd that! Has this area had much snow out of those two storm systems in the last week?
laker67 Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Cole Camp reporting 11 inches and Sedalia at 8 inches. Water temps need to be near 50.
Wayne SW/MO Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Cole Camp reporting 11 inches and Sedalia at 8 inches. Water temps need to be near 50. When does that normally appear? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
laker67 Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013   When does that normally appear?  That water temp is normally a lot later than the rivers flowing in. When Kdan and I fished tunnel darn and caplinger mill, 47 to 53 was an ideal range. And with truman, that river water has to warm up the lake water before being discharged into loz. Late march into early april was the time frame for those rivers.
