Members Corb90 Posted February 26, 2013 Members Posted February 26, 2013 Hey all! I have taken up fly fishing about a year ago and am having a heck of a time going after trout in Missouri's small streams around the area. I really enjoy blue springs creek and have found a small creek within an hours drive that looks like a nice place to catch some smallmouth when the temps warm up a little. Its a place called little indian creek. Anyone ever fished there? What do you usually catch and whats the smallie population like? I plan on wading since its a creek and I dont really want to get into the meramec that close to st. louis. Please let me know if you have any info on this creek as I am too impatient to wait until the water warms up to find out for myself. One more question, when do smallies work their way up small creeks like this? Around March-April? AND back on the blue springs creek topic, will the section of the creek close to the meramec a good place to go after small mouth?
moguy1973 Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 A buddy of mine used to fish Indian Creek and Little Indian creek a lot and caught some real nice smallmouth there. But you really have to watch out for landowners down there. Everything is purple painted and from what I hear they don't like people wading their creeks, even though it might be legal to do so. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson

moguy1973 Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 I think he mainly fished the section of Indian Creek between New Hope Rd and the Meramec. There used to be access at New Hope road but there are No Tresspassing signs and purple paint all over New Hope Rd now, or at least there were when I went to fish there a couple summers ago. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
