Bill Butts Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Mitch, Thanks very much for posting your report. Nice happy angler photo, too. Nothing like a good warm rain the kick a White Bass run into action. Thanks again! Bill Bill Butts Springfield MO "So many fish, so little time"
Members lil sac mitch Posted March 13, 2013 Members Posted March 13, 2013 Bill, Your welcome. I have had the best luck fishing right behined log jams as the current is still very swift. If you can strip your line quick enough plain white clousers with red heads have done the best for me, but as soon as I get tired of striping fly line I pull out my spinning tackle and tie on curly tails.
dennis boatman Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Had a good day yesterday too...I'm sure it will be off and on for a while, but yesterday was ON....planning on kayaking a week from this friday from 215 to Taylor...an annual event for us... A strike indicator is just a bobber...
Members Saltydawg Posted March 13, 2013 Members Posted March 13, 2013 Now you've done it Mitch.. Thanks for the report
Members lil sac mitch Posted March 14, 2013 Members Posted March 14, 2013 It wasn't as good today, I was hoping to catch some more 'eyes, but the water has really started to clear up since yesterday so they and the whites were in deeper holes and biting really soft, but I still managed to catch 2 walleye and 12 descent sized whites right before dark.
Members Saltydawg Posted March 14, 2013 Members Posted March 14, 2013 I will be there tommorow. Have they made it up to Taylor or still closer to Aldrich ?
Members lil sac mitch Posted March 14, 2013 Members Posted March 14, 2013 The picture that I posted was of fish that were caught at Taylor's bridge. But the best bet for today would be to fish just downstream from Orleans against the cuts in the mud bank, or at the mouth of walnut creek.
Members Hillbilly1 Posted March 15, 2013 Members Posted March 15, 2013 The orleans bridge was packed last night with people. I went after work. Started at the first bend below taylors, managed to catch several LM but no whites. So I went to the orleans bridge and managed to catch 5 before dark. There was a couple of guys left of me that had a whole stringer full of whites and I saw several other people with fish. All of my fish came on a purple flake swimming minnow on 1/8 head. Long cast with a slow retrieve running bait just off the bottom was working for me. Water is low and dingy and the banks are muddy. Hope everyone has a fantastic fishing weekend, it should be a good one.
dennis boatman Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 ...I fell down the other day in the mud and had trouble getting up..it's REAL slick... A strike indicator is just a bobber...
Members RiverFisher5944 Posted March 16, 2013 Members Posted March 16, 2013 Fished Orleans last night and caught one, it has slowed down considerably there and reports were saying they were all above taylor yesterday. Maybe they were making a big run before this storm, not real sure. We'll see what happens after this rain.
