Members RiverFisher5944 Posted March 21, 2013 Members Posted March 21, 2013 Thanks for the tips and congrats on the fish. From the looks they look like mainly males, were they? Have you caught many females up the river yet? Just trying to figure out how far along the spawn is.
Members lil sac mitch Posted March 21, 2013 Members Posted March 21, 2013 Actually most of them were larger females, and their eggs were getting really close, but with this cold front it is going to mess them up and push them into deep holes most likely.
Members Hillbilly1 Posted March 30, 2013 Members Posted March 30, 2013 Took off work early today to see if I could catch a few whites. I crossed the Orleans bridge and walked down to the end of the small island and managed to catch 5 on a slider. This was a pearl slider that I dyed purple. When I first started, around 9:30 the bites were short so I would pinch the 3" sliders in half. Around noon I moved down the river to where there was some fresh water flowing in and was able to catch 8 more on a 3" bubble gum slider. These were hitting much harder than the ones I caught early. Several of the whites had the whole slider in the mouth. The water is up and dingy. I was focusing my efforts on areas of slack water out of the main current. Should be a good weekend. Get out and enjoy it.
