I have recently taken an interest in targeting carp with my fly rod. I have read a lot about fishing lake flats for them and was wondering if anyone knew of flats on Lake Tenkiller and Fort Gibson, accessible by land, that could be waded. Preferably on the north end of tenkiller and the south to southeast side of fort gibson.

It's a blast. Near the end of last summer I started exploring the flats of Arcadia here in OKC. Only had a couple trips out there before Fall settled in, but it's on my list for this Summer. Since I'm in OKC, I don't know much about those lakes. If I'm over that way; I'd just as soon be looking for trout. Let us know how you do!

Probably will have more luck working the upper Illinois river than in tenkiller. The upper Illinois has multiple access points via hwy 10. You can also start closer to the lake at Carter's Landing, Horseshoe bend, Barron Fork, and Town Branch.

(I have never been able to hook a carp on the fly but have snagged quite a few with treble hook and bass rod years ago in these areas.)

You could take a scouting trip in the next month and see if the sand bass are running up the river. Would be a good way to see the river and catch a TON of fish that fight extremely hard. Light/white streamers seem to work the best.

I've had luck at Marvel when the carp are spawning. Anything that swung in front of them they sucked in! I was after trout, but the carp became more fun.
