In reading some recent posts, I've seen a few comments about changes in the river due to high water. We have a float coming up the first week of April from Tan Vat down to Pulltite. Specifically, what kinds of changes should we be looking for? We usually camp around Ashley Creek, at Cedar Grove and a little ways below Akers. Is there anything we need to be aware of before setting out?

I haven't fished from TV to Baptist this year, but I suspect with the recent rains you should not be dragging much if at all. From Baptist to Ashley Creek the river looks good, real good. I have been fishing that stretch water all January through Feb and last week as well. I suspect it is clear as well, but I have not been downstream of Ashley Creek yet this year.

Dont know what the last high water event did...but the NPS folks usually log out most of the nasty stuff. You should be fine.

Deadfall jam at S-Bend, below Baptist, has been washed out and downstream to the big boulder sitting in middle of river.

That S bend was a mess last Fall when floating below Baptist. I fished above Baptist to Tan Vat a week ago and there were some missing root wads below the ledge. The fishing was great, the water was a little up and a little murky. I was planning on floating from Baptist to Cedar this coming weekend. I got a call from Jadwin Canoe informing me that as of today, the river was closed to floating. I'm sure it will come down by next Saturday if they don't get anymore rain. I'm not against anymore rain, but I would love to see how the river has changed.

That's what I needed to know - thanks, guys. And if anyone goes downriver in the next couple of weeks, let me know how it looks.
