Members atron Posted March 12, 2013 Members Posted March 12, 2013 Anyone been on the finley in the last week? I was thinking about trying my luck out near the park later this week.
Terrierman Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 I cross Green Bridge twice a day (once when it's light enough to see it). It was about two feet high and moderately colored yesterday afternoon. You should be fine. I'll tell a story on myself and the Finley. Sunday morning the wife and I like to go for a ride. We were out by Fordland and went down Olga Road. The river was coming up and was a little colored. There was maybe a foot of water over the low water slab. I could see the slab (kind of) and over Lovey's strong objections, started to cross. Made it about ten feet before I dropped the left front off the slab. Not a good feeling. I knew it was going to be walk back to the nearest place and see if someone would pull me out. Lovey being the smart lady that she is said let's at least try to rock it and see if we can back out. I got out into waist deep nice cool Finley and did my best to lift bumper and shove backwards. I apparently had superhuman strength at the moment because that Cherokee came right back up on the slab and out of the river. Talk about a cheap lesson.
OzarksRiverman Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 You're lucky you didn't go off the right side of the slab...You'd have been sunk.
Terrierman Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 It was off the deep side, we were crossing from the east to the west. Tire was in about three feet of water with the frame sitting on the slab. I still don't know how we actually got out of that spot other than being incredibly lucky.
OzarkFishman Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Close calls make the best lessons. Like you said, chalk it up to a cheap lesson.

Oh I forgot to ask...How did the water temp. feel?

TSmith Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 I'd say waders... Insulated waders I believe that fishing is usually better when there is a full moon. People are more crazy when there is a full moon. Thank God He made fish the way He did so I can have better fishing when people are crazier than normal.
