Quillback Posted March 15, 2013 Posted March 15, 2013 Caught a couple of nice ones first thing in the morning, 6.25 and 7.25 lbs., both came on a jerkbait, from the same location, maybe 10 minutes apart. Jeb got a 4.75 lb. fish later in the morning on a jig. Good early bite, then things got really slow, we left a little after noon. I think we got 7 bass total, and 6 of those came in the first hour. Water temp was nudging 49 when we left.
Guest Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Those look at to young and very healthy. Did you see any shad on the Down Imager? You fellas did a heckuva job on those 3 bass. They could win any of those 3 fish jackpots. Im yet to land anything bigger than 5lbs at BV, but I get broke off at least once a year on finesse tackle. I should probably try night fishing more during the 3 phases of the spawn. Especially when theres lots of fishing pressure and pontoon traffic
Quillback Posted March 17, 2013 Author Posted March 17, 2013 Didn't see many shad, most of the winter the shad have been in the deep water down by the dam, huge schools of them, but we did not fish that end of the lake so I don't know if they are still there but my guess is they are. A couple of years ago I used to go out real early in the morning (2 or 3 AM) while it's still dark and fish until about 8 or so, did OK on bigger bass doing that. Most guys that night fish put in in the evening and fish until midnight or so, so if you go out early in the AM usually you'll have the lake to yourself until it gets light. How is that neck of yours doing Trophy?
Guest Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 I've been busted off several times around brushpiles and docks near that area. The mainlake mound/point opposite your photo is a good one too. Thanks for sharing
Members chima47 Posted April 25, 2013 Members Posted April 25, 2013 It's easy to catch stocked fish purchased from Missouri Dept. of conservation. I found records that BV has been buying stock fish from Missouri for decades. Then fans are put in to keep algae down. I read of an article about a guy on lake Ann? Catching bass after bass from the dock. Down with the POA and elites of bv
