Members lil sac mitch Posted March 16, 2013 Members Posted March 16, 2013 I would like to say thank you to the people that helped me tonight after I got hurt at orleans. It looks like I will be fishing one handed for awhile..As for my report the whites were really hugging the bottom and taking pearl colored jigs. I managed to catch 12 nice females and one walleye before I had to go to the E.R. Thanks again guys
Bill Butts Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 OMG, that sounds serious!!! Like Phil, fellow fishermen are anxious to know what happened. Oh, and who cleaned all those fish? Bill Butts Springfield MO "So many fish, so little time"
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 I hope it wasn't a slip when cleaning those fish! Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Members lil sac mitch Posted March 16, 2013 Author Members Posted March 16, 2013 Thank you for the concern. I was getting out of my kayak to measure a walleye and I fell and dislocated my shoulder and tore muscles and ligaments all down my arm, but I will be fine, and I plan on takin out a long crappie pole and tryin to catch some whites one handed this evening. And as for the fish that I cought, I gave them to a gentleman who took my kayak and gear back to my truck for me.
Bill Butts Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Wow, that was a nasty fall!! You sure have a great attitude toward the unfortunate situation. Great that someone was nearby to help. Look forward to hearing about catching Whites on your cane pole. Bill Butts Springfield MO "So many fish, so little time"
Members lil sac mitch Posted March 18, 2013 Author Members Posted March 18, 2013 Tonight I managed to do pretty good by bouncing marabou jigs off of the bottom of a small feeder creek where the current wasn't as swift as the main river.
Bill Butts Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 That's really cool, you must have an incredible hunger for catching fish! How's the shoulder and what is the healing time for such an injury? Bill Butts Springfield MO "So many fish, so little time"
Members lil sac mitch Posted March 18, 2013 Author Members Posted March 18, 2013 Ya, there is nothing I enjoy more than having a rod in my hand with a fish on the end. I am supposed to be in a sling for four to six weeks but I am doing alot of excersises so I can hopefully go without it for short periods of time to fish. I am going tonight as well and I will post my report soon.
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 If you can swap handle sides on your spinning reel you could use your good arm for the rod and just wind with the lame one. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
