Al Agnew Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 this got me to thinking about past spinnerbait favorites. In the early 70's, Bass Buster Scorpion, then in late 70's a Blakemore Baby Buzzspin(chartruese with double colorado gold blades), then in the 80's the spinnerbait era really hit stride. In the 80's my favorite was probably a 3/8 oz white strike king single spin with a silver colorado blade. In the 90's I did good with willow blades, especially a 1/2 ounce with double willow blades, one gold, one silver, but the silver had to be the back blade. And now lately I sort of favor the War Eagles (because they always run true) and still the 1/2 ounce double willow which still catches them sometimes. I am thinking I might try the old colorado blade baits more this year to see if they still work. Yeah, the Scorpion was my first "favorite", too. Then I fell in love with the SOB (Small Okiebug). When I stopped fishing reservoirs all the time, I kinda got away from using very many spinnerbaits except for my homemade twin spin on the rivers. Gradually started fishing them more again the last few years. I really like the War Eagles.
Members NickIL Posted March 17, 2013 Members Posted March 17, 2013 Terminator, 3/8 oz, white. They cost a little more, but it will earn its keep.
Buzz Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Wareagle 3/8 oz. rocks on the creeks I fish. Come on Jack, we've covered this before. http://www.wareaglelures.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=144 This spinnerbait will flat out catch catch bass. You will need a baitcaster though. LOL... I've tried other color and blade combos, but this has got to be my favorite. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
RSBreth Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 Mine are mostly all custom now but if I use stock ones it's Terminator or War Eagle - 3/8ths for rivers and 3/8 or 1/2 with added weight for the lakes. (My profile picture fish was caught on a 3/8 Terminator in Fire-Tiger with the single gold Oklahoma blade, chartreuese Zoom Tab-Tail grub for a trialer.) You probably know I fish the Smallie rivers all the time, and I always have my favorite casting setup for spinnerbaits with me.
