jah Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 On Spring Break this week and wanted to fish Tan Vat and Baptist tomorrow. I'm thinking it may be too high as the gauge is at 233 CFS now, and I suspect rising. Any thoughts on how high is too high below the park? I recollect that 200CFS was quite fast, but it's been a while...Thanks.... Jim
Gavin Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Guages coming up...dunno where they are gonna stop....Little Piney looks blowed up.....Might be a good day for a small wild trout creek. Something with a short drainage..
jah Posted March 18, 2013 Author Posted March 18, 2013 Thanks, Gavin. I was thinking the same thing---Blue Springs comes to mind....
Al Agnew Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Yep, anything much over 200 cfs and the upper Current gets tough to wade, although if you can get on it and wade it when the water is a bit high and murky, you could get into some great streamer fishing. If you're a big guy and an experienced wader, and prudent, you might be able to wade it a little higher than that, but this time of year I'd wear a good, comfortable PFD if I tried to wade it when it's a little high!
Gavin Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Make your call in the AM...The rain is outa here for a bit...High can be great...but crossing can be incredibly dicey...hit the spots that appear only at high water..da fish move...a boat helps a ton..
