ozarkgunner Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 Twas a bad idea to read this post while taking a drink of Dr. Pepper. Nearly lost it from laughing. Angler At Law
ozarkgunner Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 I have to warn him. I forgot to mention the Mosquitos have AIDS along the James. SGFChief 1 Angler At Law
MSUFisherBear Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 So, for those of you who have been privileged enough to hit the river and upper reaches of the rock.... Are the fish still staging. I heard that folks where still catching quite a few down around cape fair. I also have the hunch that these two recent rounds of snow have got to set us back. RSBreth Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I fished down at blunks Tuesday and Wednesday nights - not really anything happening. I think the cold weather and water run-off has set them back a week or so. It'll happen, but I think it will be this weekend IF it warms up AND if it rains, too. A warm rain.
duckydoty Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 This weekend or next for sure. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
MSUFisherBear Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 That was what I was figuring on. Thanks for the report there RSBreth. I think with NOAA's forecast of rain and highs between the mid-50s and low 60's may really set us on our way in that department. I think it could be very possible for the whites to make runs up around Cox if the water does get up from the snow and rain. All speculation, though, I suppose since the weather can certainly change in this state in an instance (a la 80 degree weather a week and a half ago, and now snow) :-S There is certainly something in angling that tends to produce a serenity of the mind. ~Washington Irving
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 About the only thing certain about the spring whites is that if you ain't there when they are you ain't catchin' any! Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
MSUFisherBear Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Very true Wayne. I believe one of the best approaches is the run and gun. Once ya find 'em, you can catch 'em all day. There is certainly something in angling that tends to produce a serenity of the mind. ~Washington Irving
stuartsx5 Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 What do you catch these whites on? I have a lot jigs and such for fall fishing for em at the lake but have never chased em in the river during the spring. Earl Stuart fishin is livin
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 The always popular Swimming Minnow is very common. The jig weight depends on the water. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
