Members repocrazy12 Posted November 18, 2013 Members Posted November 18, 2013 Welcome to the area. I live 1 mile from Buck Hollow. I spend most of my spring and summer fishing the Jacks Fork. If I put in at Buck I usually fish down to Blue Springs because its convenient to take out. The water usually stays low during the summer. I found that using a kayak is best because I drag very little and very seldom have to get out. What that one guys said about cotton mouths is VERY TRUE. There is not shortage up here but its also a good sign of a healthy eco system. Regarding your question about goggle eye YES THERE ARE TONS in this part of the river. If your looking for a quick easy meal fish at Blue Springs hole right next to the giant rock in the middle. You will limit out in less then an hour. Any questions just let me know.
countryred Posted November 19, 2013 Author Posted November 19, 2013 Will do repo. I have only bank fished in that area around the access. Yep, those big rocks had some last time. What is the limit and length limit on goggle eyes? So far my best Jacks Fork smallie is 16", but had at least 1 bigger one on. Spent some time trying to sight fish a school of decent ones, no luck, but once I got a better view, they all turned out to be suckers....They were pretty deep and it was windy.. Any advice on tackle? I have been using a 7' med act spinning rod with 8 lb floro. But with some of the fish hiding in the heavy wood might break out the old tournament worm rods with 15lb and some eakins jigs.
Members repocrazy12 Posted November 20, 2013 Members Posted November 20, 2013 Regarding google eye on this part of the river there is no length limit. But your daily limit is 15 or 16. Can't remember off the top of my head. Regarding gear I noticed 8lb test flouro yields me the best results. I use a medium heavy 7ft rod with an Okuma trio reel. As far as lures I will say that the Jacks Fork is very unique regarding what will and won't work.
Members dtbrake Posted March 31, 2014 Members Posted March 31, 2014 Have been fishing this river for many years. its a great thing having a fisherie this nice just minutes from home. You can get bit on pretty much anything. usually any jig will yeild good results i prefer the 3.5 inch natural colored tubes. senkos and pretty much any other worm or creature(imo under 5"). but man the spook jr is to much fun once the summer time hits you can get bit in nearly any situation.
