buzzbaitr Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Coming down tomorrow, any reports on water clarity? Also wondering if I should be tying on warts or jerks?
MOPanfisher Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Well its april, gonna be windy and warm, lake stable over the weekend. I certainly at some point would be throwing some jerk baits. Water is going to stained just about everywhere, not muddy but stained for sure. Likely to be some warmer water up the river. Warm wind this weekend should begin to bring the water temp up, right now at the dam it is 47 surface temp at about 0800.
buzzbaitr Posted April 5, 2013 Author Posted April 5, 2013 Thanks Mopanfisher, I really appreciate the info especially about the water clarity and temp.
Members Muskie Bob Posted April 9, 2013 Members Posted April 9, 2013 I don't know how others did, but I cast a rogue for about 3 hours last Friday and about 1 1/2 hours today in areas where I normally catch bass in the spring.........I could not catch one bass. I found it hard to believe I could not catch a bass on a rogue.
buzzbaitr Posted April 9, 2013 Author Posted April 9, 2013 Not so good for me and my partner. We went out sat from 1130 to 4 I caught two keepers one went 3.5 and the other 2.0 no shorts. 2.0 on a little jig and the bigger one on a senko. Water was pretty dirty but temps were around 51-53. We fished everything and threw about everything. Sun we fished the spring fling and did even worse. 1 keeper about two pounds for me no shorts for either of us. Looking back I think we should have gone farther up the river. We should have caught fish though, temps were rising water was clearing up, not one short in two days just plain strange. My partner didn't catch a fish in two days. I am going back down on Friday and Saturday so hopefully my luck will be better, any advice would be more than welcome.
Members Conman64 Posted April 9, 2013 Members Posted April 9, 2013 Very tough weekend. I had a few shorts on a jig on secondary points and two very nice fish (one 6+) on a jerkbait off of a gravel main lake point, but that was it. Water still cold, lake dropping, blah blah blah it should not be this tough right now. Gotta believe that this lake is gunna pop very soon.
