Tin Whistles

Has anyone seen any fish'n being done at the Tin Whistles? Just wondering how its going with all that new rock rip rap. If so, are the whites up there yet?

Yes! They were being caught up above the whistles last evening, mostly by fly rodders.

They left a small lot behind the guard rail, so one doesn't have to walk too far. The down side, I would think, is that the new road hasn't been paved and seems to be pretty dusty.

It looked to me like a guy would have to tie a rope to the guard rail to get back up to the road. I use to go down there and do some night fish'n from that side of the creek, don't know if its safe now with that new rock rip rap.

Is there rip rap up around the corner and into the field? Or just there next to the road?

I don't think it goes around the corner into the field. Just up to the corner. I like the idea of raising the road, but hope we didn't lose a good place to bank fish.

You can't get around the corner any more from Slough Hollow. They built the road bed up and din't make a ramp in to the field. The real loss will be in wet weather. I don't think too many will want to go to the maiden or down Fisherman's Nose at night when it's wet and muddy. On the other side it's also appears the work is in response to a 5' rise in the power pool, good for the lower White I guess, but really bad for the locals around Taney County.

The Lower White has survived as a world class fishery for over 60 years and I don't understand this new crisis?

Had a friend there today till about 4. They were catching pretty good and getting better as they left.
