Jbrant Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 We fished Saturday from 7 to 4 and this morning from 6:30 to 10:00. Saturday we fished around Bollinger, Sunday towards Proctor. Water temp at the cabin was 49.8 (51 mm) first thing. Found it in the upper 50's late in shallow wind blown pockets. Water was about 6" visibility at the cabin and a little better in Bollinger. Wind was awful this morning. Caught almost all our fish on spinnerbaits shallow. Biggest went 4-6. Only caught two other small keepers the rest of the time. Most of these were close to pockets on chunk rock with wind. Flipped some docks, fished brush when available, fished main lake points, some channel banks, lots of chunk rock. Just never put anything together. Saw some big shad by themselves swimming slowly but never any big balls of bait. Crappie fishing was good in the back of our cove - late in the day was much better.
crittermo Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 thanks for the report jbrandt. i bass fished saturday and all day sunday with a few bass caught. most of the bass that i caught came late sunday after the wind died down. i caught 6 late sunday all on a lake fork chartreuse ringworm rigged the same as you would a sluggo. only 1 was a keeper. i fished from the 3-6mm. i didn't make it into the gravois arm but it should be getting beter in the gravois every day now. the ringworm has been a really good bait for me in the past at this time of year. mainly on points but as the water warms a little bit more it should be a good bait from the points all the way back in the coves.
Old plug Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 For those of you headed this way this weekend. The temperature was about 55 in the lower Gravois so I guess it is about the same over most of the lower lake. There was a heavy rain thru the night. This morning it was kind of on the warm side and it is still going on. There was some rise in the water level as well. The kind of conditions where normally you would not be able to keep me off the lake. But I have to go to St Louis and pick up my grand daughter for a week visit out here and will not to be back for 2-3 days. I will say this the changing conditions will be the thing. It is suppose drop to the mid 30's tonight and I think tomorrow night as well. There is suppose to be a cold windy period coming with it. That will push thectemperature back down some. I am sure you will also be faced withs to muddy water in many places on the lake. Another thing is how soon they will have a big draw down. Your going to have a lot of things involved in your fishing.
