Ill Trout Bum Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 I am looking at visiting the Eleven Point in the near future. Before I do, I would like to request a little help from some of you guys who are familiar with the area. I would appreciate an answer to the following questions: Where are the boundaries of the Blue Ribbon area? What flies are recommended for this area? What are the prospects for dry flies on the Eleven Point? Thank you for any and all advice. Scott
MaxDrown Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 The blue ribbon is from Greer Spring Access to Turner Mill Access. Stoneflies and marabou jigs do well consistantly. They need to be fished near the bottom of the river. There is no dry fly fishing. At least not that I've ever seen or heard of. -- Max Drown
Brian Sloss Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Max is pretty well right, not much dry fly action. Stones and marabou jigs are very good. Golden stones in particular lately. Don's crawdad, prince nymphs and other larger generic nymphs. Streamers on a sink tip in a few select shoals has been producing lately as well. The blue ribbon also extends about 1/4 mile up from Greer access to the mouth of Greer spring. www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497
Ill Trout Bum Posted May 3, 2013 Author Posted May 3, 2013 Brian, We are thinking of floating the stretch from Greer's to Turner Mill. Some of the guys in our group are less than accomplished canoeists by their own admission. Do you have any rental options other than canoes? If so, I would be interested. Scott
Brian Sloss Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 I also have kayaks and a few rafts. I would advise calling in advance and reserving them before coming at 417-778-6497. www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497
