Terrierman Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 The river was about a foot to eighteen inches higher than normal and just enough color. Caught several smallmouth, nothing big. 1/8 oz orange/chart spinnerbaits, single gold colorado blade was what was working for me. I almost always try to imitate crawdads, and those are surely craw colors. Very nice day to be out and about.
MSUFisherBear Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Amen! Thanks for the report! There is certainly something in angling that tends to produce a serenity of the mind. ~Washington Irving
Jack Jones Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Did better than me. I threw on the waders and tried walking up and back from the Braden slab and came up empty. I also checked out the KK bridge and wow, the water was up. "Thanks to Mother Mercy, Thanks to Brother Wine, Another night is over and we're walking down the line" - David Mallett
RSBreth Posted May 12, 2013 Posted May 12, 2013 Yeah - a little high for wading. Next time look at the Riverdale gauge - it's pretty far downstream but will give you an idea how the river is.

I drove by one day recently I had a sinder block out there I was using to gauge the depth. Last time I went down there in April I could barely see my block out on the gravel where I placed it. I frequent that area a lot living in Rogersville. "Let me fish or else"
Jack Jones Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 It wasn't over the Braden slab. It sure was moving fast though. I got a workout walking back upriver. I had never been to the KK bridge before. I didn't realize it was above the river so much. I thought it was a slab bridge too. Looks like a good put in spot though. Members AmericanAngler Posted May 13, 2013 Members Posted May 13, 2013 just a little down from there at KK there is slab there part of the old road. Around this time a year it is nice spot just below and there is spot in the back too that can not be seen. Next time you head out that way shoot me a call. I almost got my float skiff done I am making it mainly for fishing the Finley around KK and the park. "Let me fish or else"
