Ill Trout Bum Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 I am considering buying a pair of wading pants for warm weather fishing. This and the fact that I rarely get into water that is more than waist deep in my usual fishing spots make a wading pant seem more practical for me. I am considering the Simms freestone wading pants among others. My main concern is that they are not made of Gore-Tex, but of a material called Toray. I have heard that this material is not as breathable as Gore-Tex. Does anyone out there have a pair of the Simms Freestone waders that can shed some light on this for me? Also, does anyone else have a recommendation for a good wading pant? Thanks. Scott
Members stlskyline Posted May 14, 2013 Members Posted May 14, 2013 I would look at the Yellowstone anglers 2013 shootout , just google it. They did a good job on wader comparisons.
Gavin Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 Call up a few Simms dealers and see how often they come back or wet wade. I hardly ever put waders on when its over 75 degrees outside.
Ill Trout Bum Posted May 14, 2013 Author Posted May 14, 2013 I agree, I frequently wet wade local waters during the summer months. I find it to be most enjoyable. It is a different matter, however, when visiting the Rockies and fishing at higher elevation. Although, I do have to say I did wet wade on a crisp June morning in Eleven mile Canyon. Scott
JCWolfe Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 I have those, nothing wrong with them. Unless your dead set on goretex get these. The guide pants are goretex but more money.Buy what you want so you'll have no regrets. I really dont think you'll notice the difference between the two fabrics when it comes to pants.
