I know, I know - this isn't the "Table Rock" forum....

Thought I'd see if anyone had been to the Rock lately..

I'm doign that big bass deal this weekend.. F&F and I have been visiting, and if anyone has been there recently with an idea, I'd appreciate it!

Last year and again this year, I was one of the first 100 entries, so I get the Quantum/made for Oakley rod. I'm fishing with the house's money :have-a-nice-day:

I figure it'll take at least 5.0-5.5 pounds to win an hour. I've never won anything at fishing (as far as money - I win every time I get to go!), so hitting an hour would be cool!

I figure just go hunting for beds and try to pick one big gal up?

What do y'all think?

I'd try vertically jigging a crankbait in the middle of the main-lake channel.

I might also be giving you bad advice since I'll be fishing it, too! :)

I think it'll take north of 7#'s to win the boat.

There was a good topwater bite Monday when I fished the White river arm out of Big M. But I didn't hook anything big enough to win a big bass tourney, I was fishing gravel points, lots of fun, but probably not going to get you a winner. I'd probably do a lot of dock fishing, especially docks near spawning pockets. I'd also fish near beds, looking for those big females that have finished spawning but are in the deeper water near the beds. I would fish a creature bait, t-rigged, or jika rigged trying to imitate a bluegill.

The ol' vertical crank bait - why didn't I think of that????

Thanks, brother :D

I've wanted to try a Jika rig!!

No problem! I'll be in a red flake Basscat Pantera II probably fishing in the kings or somewhere between shell knob and eagle rock. If you see me, come tell me what I'm doing wrong.

Good luck!

Good luck to you too, brother! I don't know where I'll be (J-Doc will attest that I read a map about, well, NEVER!) :have-a-nice-day:

What's funny is I read about or saw a vertical crankbait presentation at one point. I can't remember where I heard about it. But the short version is a heavy pyramid sinker just above a floating crank bait. Pitch beyond and drag to a spawning bed, then pull slack in and let it out to imitate a bluegill nosing down on a bed.

Haha! Thanks a lot, hoglaw! I thought I had recommended something obnoxious and come to find out, its a technique used during the spawn.

Jolicious, I'll be expecting a cut of your winnings for sharing that little known secret with you.
