Members charliehorsejigs Posted May 21, 2013 Members Posted May 21, 2013 The last time i talked to a conversation agent, I asked this same question. He said that even though the fish is not going to make it, it must be released. He said the same goes for a snagged fish that is legal sized. I hate to waste the fish, but I guess the vultures and the carp need to eat too.

This is one of those cases where the effect of following the letter of the law is contrary to the purpose of the law (conservation). But then again, if it were any different, we'd see people filling five gallon buckets with everything they caught, no matter the size........"Yes sir, I'm not sure how, but every one of those crappie swallowed the hook.....none of 'em was gonna make it, and I didn't think they counted against the limit since 'ey was short....." What? You mean there's people doing that now? Yeah, turn 'em in.

I take that to mean "OTHER" meaning anything not listed above, Carp, bluegill, gar etc. Is that what that means? If you have a legal limit of Crappie (15) and a legal limit of Bass (6) you are over the 20 fish limit, I have never heard of this before. I am sure it means "OTHER" not listed.
Members Gregg Posted May 22, 2013 Members Posted May 22, 2013 I just studied the link more closely and it is for the special land management area's. Here is the link to the current fishing regulations. http://mdc.mo.gov/sites/default/files/resources/2011/01/2013fishsum.pdf

There is no total bag limit on fish caught, only species limits.
