Coosa Posted June 5, 2013 Author Posted June 5, 2013 We are going from mineral springs to slabtown. We have been calling boiling springs outfitter in licking and they been telling us the water is a little high but clear and fishable. Now you guys got me worried!!
Wayne SW/MO Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 You might PM Justin Spencer and Brian Sloss and see what the south running rivers are doing? The storm looks like it might be light on their watersheds. The James might be spared also. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Terrierman Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 I just looked at the river we plan to float tomorrow and Friday. It's running a little over twice the 75th percentile. It looks perfect. I'd go with what the outfitter had to say and only bail if I saw it myself and thought it was too high. Good luck to you all.
Al Agnew Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Yeah, if the outfitter says it's clear enough to fish that's probably good enough. The Boiling Spring people are reputable. And you're quite a bit higher on the river than where the gauge is.
UnCivE Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Make sure you keep an eye on it. It's raining cats and dogs here right now (I live close).
Terrierman Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Somebody needs to post a fishing report, and by somebody I mean Coosa. So how was it? We had a nice little trip on our chosen river.
Coosa Posted June 11, 2013 Author Posted June 11, 2013 Well we decided to go with the Big Piney so we put in at mineral springs around 8:30 Wednesday morning. Fishing was slow and what we did catch was pretty small. Around 4:00 it rained pretty hard on us. After a slow day of fishing we decided to look for a sandbar. That did not go well. We put in some miles without fishing tryin to find a spot before dark. We finally found a VERY small gravel bar and went straight to bed hoping for a better second day. No fire because there was no wood and we were running out of light. Day 2 brought new light as we caught a couple fish before we even took off. We rounded the first corner and there we were at boiling springs running well ahead of schedule. Fishing picked up a bit the rest of the day but size stayed small. This time we found a great gravel bar with plenty of wood. Had a much more comfortable second night. Day 3 fishin continued to get a little better and started to get a little more size. Started to run into a few people Friday morning. No big deal. Took out at Slabbtown around 1:30 Friday afternoon. Overall the trip was pretty good for being our first one. Fishing could have been better but I guess ya cant catch em all. Think we might be doing a one nighter on the Meramec next Thursday. Can't wait Was gonna post pics but don't know how on my phone.
