gramps50 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 I have been thinking of hooking up the boat and heading to Little Prairie CA outside of Rolla. Anyone fish there? How;s the fishing there? Looks like a nice place looking at it from Google maps
UnCivE Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 I've only been there briefly. It LOOKS nice, but looks like it could get a bit windy (it's flat and exposed). I've heard stories of good fish coming out of there, but haven't fished it yet. There is a really nice boat ramp and fishing dock.
Kayser Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 I've caught OK bluegill, small bass, a few nice redear, and not much else. Heard of crappie on the banks in the spring, but I was always trout fishing instead. Watched a guy pull some out of mid-lake trees near the dam one day- had about 17 of them. I see people occasionally setting up by the dock for catfish at night, but never saw anyone catch them. Best bet? Give it a shot, you might get into something. I never had a boat, so I couldn't fish the spots I really wanted. WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
Kelroy Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 Good spot for catfish and crappie, i find the bass fishing hit-or-miss. The shallows get very weedy in the summer. There is a 10hp limit, but lately they have been letting larger motors operate, as long as they are kept at idle speed. ~K
Greasy B Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 I fished it twice for Bluegill. First time we caught several really nice fish before we were run off the lake by an vicious downpour. The fish we caught inspired us to try again. The second trip was disappointing, very few fish of size and no real bed activity. Probably more pretty a lake than productive. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974
