Mofloatjunkie Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Planning to float from hootentown to h.l. Kerr in two weeks. Anybody been doing any fishing through that part? Any advice where to camp overnight? Any advice would be appreciated.
vonreed Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Just upstream from Crane creek on the right side there's a gravel bar that's on a bend in the river, which has a deep hole with lots of catfish. It's my favorite camping spot and the owner is a great guy. He's a dentist I believe and an avid fisherman. He even cast netted us some minnows for fishing that night. It's over half way to your destination.
RSBreth Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Kind of a short float for an overnighter - but if you go slow you'll be fine. That gravel bar above Crane is pretty close to the take out - I put in at H.L Kerr and paddle up to where Crane pours in as a day trip - it's not that far up so maybe pick a spot pretty close after where the county road (AA - I forget ) allows access just downstream from McCall bridge.
